IRON CROSS 2nd Class 1939, WAR MERIT CROSS 2nd Class 1939 without swords, RUSSIAN FRONT MEDAL 1941/42, 1939 WOUND BADGE IN SILVER together with award documents awarded to Unteroffizier HEINRICH KAHLENBERG, 15./Infantry Regiment 553 - WOUND BADGE IN SILVER issued at Leslau 2/7/1942 - IRON CROSS 2nd Class 1939 issued at Munster 5/10/1942 - RUSSIAN FRONT MEDAL 1941/42 issued 18/8/1943 - WAR MERIT CROSS 2nd Class, issued at Bremen, 17 April 1945........ Together with - Wehrpas with photo, issued in Bremen 1936, with entries to 1944 - German Rescue Service membership card with photo, issued Bremen 1936 - a letter advising of the award of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, Dusseldorf 27/10/1942......Kahlenberg took part in the Invasion of Belgium and France in 1940 while serving with 269. Inf. Div. 9th Company, 489 Infantry Regiment. In June 1941, he took part in Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia with Infantry Regiment 553. He appears to have been severely wounded in 1942 which resulted in his discharge from the army. His War Merit Cross, awarded in 1945, was won in a civilian capacity and does not appear in his Wehrpas. Very Fine condition.
