Group of seven - DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS GVIR (1944), AIR FORCE MEDAL GVIR (RAF), 1939/45 STAR, FRANCE & GERMANY STAR, DEFENCE MEDAL, WAR MEDAL 1939/45, NZ WAR SERVICE MEDAL named to: NZ391424 (& 133541) FLYING OFFICER T.H.SINCLAIR, RNZAF (& RAF)........ DFC L/G 12.12.1944 - 158 Squadron RAF (Halifax).....This officer has completed numerous operations against the enemy, in the course of which he has invariably displayed the utmost fortitude, courage and sevotion to duty......... Flying Officer Sinclair’s tour of 36 sorties consisted of the following attacks – Normandy Beachhead (7), Flying Bomb sites (14), Ruhr Valley (6), Army support (5), Keil, Wilhelmshaven, and Hanover airfields (3). Following this tour, he instructed at 11 Officer Training Unit RAF on Wellington Bombers......... AFM King’s Birthday Honours 1950....For work done with the Armamant and Guided Weapons Flight of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, over a period of two years whilst attached to the Ministry of Supply from the RAF. No citation available......... After his period of service with the RNZAF had finished in 1946, Sinclair joined the RAF as a Flight Sergeant Pilot. He returned to New Zealand in 1951......... Medals mounted in a frame together with a set of miniature medals and two photographs. Also included Sinclair’s two log books covering his entire period of service, His RNZAF cloth and metal pilot’s wings, RSA badge, a number of photographs of Sinclair, crews etc, some letters and documents including congratulatory letters for receiving the AFM, one from Air Chief Marshall Sir Alec. W. Coryton, KBE, KBE, MVO, DFC, RAF Discharge Certificate dated 20 June 1951. A rare medal combination. Extra Fine condition.
