Group of four Ė QUEENíS SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL with clasps CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE, SA1901, SA1902 (36666 Pte. D.Cameron, Lovatís Scouts), 1914/20 WAR & VICTORY MEDALS (11/280 Sgt. NZEF), MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL GVR (11-280 Sgt. N.Z. Pnrs:). named to: 11/280 SJT. D.CAMERON, NZ MAORI (PIONEER) BATTALION...... The War & Victory medals are renamed. Cameron was also entitled to the India General Service Medal with clasps HAZARA 1888 & HAZARA 1891 and the 1914/15 Star......... M.S.M. L/G 1/1/1918 "In recognition of valuable services rendered with the armies in the field"......... Duncan Cameron, born Glasgow Scotland 1866, served with the Seaforth Highlanders in India 1888-1891, and later with the 11th Company, Imperial Yeomanry (Lovatís Scouts) during the Boer War. SEVERELY WOUNDED by gun shot wound to right thigh and stomach at Sptzkopnear on 20 September 1901. Enlisted in the Wellington Mounted Rifles August 1914, embarked for Gallipoli May 1915, slightly wounded while serving at the Mounted Rifles Brigade HQ on 27 June 1915, transferred to the Maori Pioneer Battalion on 1 September 1916 and posted to England, served in France from January 1917 and promoted to Sergeant, wounded by a gunshot wound to the forehead on 30 August 1918 and evacuated to England. Discharged on account of wounds October 1919, died Silverstream March 1949......... M.S.M.ís to the Maori Pioneer Battalion rare. With Defence Department file. Some minor edge knocks, Very Fine to Extra Fine condition.
