The son of a Colonel in the 8th Dragoons, Captain Grahame was born on 17 March 1835 and entered the military at an early age. He is reputed to have served in the Crimea and been a survivor of the famous Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava. He later went on to serve in Persia, The Indian Mutiny, China and New Zealand. After leaving the service, he appears to have retired in the USA at Seattle, Washington, where he died of heart failure on about 24 February 1894......... Very Fine condition
